Metrics explained

What can you compare?
Playing time, attacking output (goals, assists, G+A), expected output (xG, xA), shooting, key passes, possession, defending and discipline — when present in the dataset.
Totals vs per 90
Per-90 rates are value / minutes × 90 when minutes are positive. Useful when players have different playing time.
Recent form
Match-by-match goals, assists and minutes over the selected window, with opponent and home/away venue.
xG and xA
Season expected goals and assists from PlayerSeasonStats. Not available at player-match grain — omitted under Home/Away or Last-N windows.
How this comparison works
Current season is resolved from the EPL database. Season aggregates and match windows are calculated server-side; charts and tables share one normalized response.

How this tool works

  1. Search players by name and select Player A and Player B.
  2. Choose Period (Season, Last 5/10/15), View (Totals or Per 90), and Context (All, Home, Away).
  3. Review the snapshot (Metric | A | B | Difference), charts, categorized table and match-by-match form.
  4. Season + All uses PlayerSeasonStats for the full metric set. Windows and Home/Away use MatchPlayerStats columns.
  5. Ask CrunchClash for custom cuts beyond the fixed comparison.

Data coverage
Current season only. Pages always resolve the active season from the EPL database — season years are not part of the URL.
Statistics included
Player season totals from PlayerSeasonStats (goals, assists, G+A, xG, xA, shots, key passes, touches, defending and discipline metrics when present). Recent form from MatchPlayerStats columns (goals, assists, minutes, cards).
Aggregation
Season metrics use stored season aggregates. Last 5/10/15 and Home/Away windows aggregate typed MatchPlayerStats columns. Per-90 rates use value / minutes × 90 when minutes > 0.
  • Player-match xG is not available from the EPL data source — season xG/xA appear only for Season + All.
  • Missing JSON keys are omitted rather than shown as zero.
  • Charts and tables use the same numeric values. Differences are A − B with no winner label.
  • Data freshness reflects the latest PlayerSeasonStats.scrapedAt timestamp when available.

FAQ

What Premier League player statistics can I compare?

Goals, assists, G+A, xG, xA, shots, shots on target, key passes, touches, defending and discipline metrics from PlayerSeasonStats when present, plus match-level goals, assists and minutes for recent form.

Can I compare players by per-90 statistics?

Yes. Switch View to Per 90. Rates use minutes in the selected scope and are omitted when minutes are zero or the metric does not support a rate.

What does xG mean in the comparison?

Expected goals (xG) estimates the quality of chances. Season xG comes from PlayerSeasonStats. A Goals − xG difference is descriptive only — it does not predict future performance.

Can I compare players over their last 5 or 10 matches?

Yes. Choose Last 5, Last 10 or Last 15. If fewer matches exist, the available appearances are shown.

Does this page use the current Premier League season?

Yes. The active season is resolved from the EPL database. Season years are not part of the canonical URL.

Can I compare players from different positions?

Yes. Different positions are highlighted so you can interpret totals in context. This tool does not rank players or declare a winner.
